Rugby College
The £33-million Rugby College project consisted of the construction of a multitude of specialist facilities, including, a 150-seater, multi-purpose hall, library, engineering space, construction training facilities, catering training areas with restaurant and bar, conferencing and business facilities, performance and dance facilities as well as purpose built art, design and craft workshops.
The completion of the project was put in major doubt when the original Principal Contractor, Ashcroft Construction, went into administrative receivership.
St. Modwen took over direct responsibility for the project, and Safety For were appointed as the CDM-Coordinator, to ensure the inclusion and implementation of health and safety throughout the design and construction phases project while making sure it was completed in line with the original requirements.
Safety For also provided the health and safety support and advisor role for the site management and site operations. This included compiling the health and safety management systems, documentation and arrangements to complete the project in a safe manner.
Rugby College was completed in 2010, with no accidents subject to RIDDOR and the project was used as a learning project for new HSE inspectors after they were invited to observe the site.
