Safety For were employed by the Inglis Consortium LLP to act as Principal Designer for the infrastructure works across the site.

The works have varied in size and type, ranging from 45,000m3 earthworks cut and fill to the demolition of the former London Borough of Barnet Council depot.

Working alongside Principal Contractor Natta Building Company Ltd and Atkins a highlight of the scheme is the construction of the permanent energy centre in conjunction with E.ON. A subterranean build, a contiguous bored pile solution was used to mitigate the ingress of groundwater in to the structure.

At its deepest point the basement structure sits 8m below ground level to accommodate two 50m3 water tanks. A complex project, the works required significant considerations both during the construction due to the logistical complexities of the installation of large plant and post-construction to ensure the ease of access and maintenance for E.ON.
